Freiland-Aquarium und -Terrarium Stein

Our aims

The main aim of the Freiland-Aquarium und Terrarium is to bring local nature closer to people who have less and less opportunity to experience and get to know them through life in the city. Our focus is on amphibians, reptiles and fish, as well as native wild plants and herbs, swamp and water plants.

When designing the park, we attached great importance to creating a close-to-nature view of the landscape of our homeland. We also pay attention to animal welfare. That is why our more than 50 different species live in biotope-appropriate aquariums and terrariums and are looked after by competent animal keepers.

Anlage

An important goal of our work is the successful offspring of many of the endangered amphibian or reptile species of our homeland. We regularly have offspring of fire salamander, alpine newt, pool frog, yellow-bellied toad, wall lizard, fence lizard, crossed viper, aesculapian snake, European pont turtle and hermann’s tortoise. We make a valuable contribution to securing biodiversity in our home country.
